About Sharp Test

Sharp Test began at home — not in an office, and not as a business plan.

It began during our son's 11+ journey.

For nearly two years, our family lived and breathed exam preparation. Like many parents, my wife and I supported our son through countless Maths and English practice sessions, mock tests, revisions, and moments of self-doubt. There were good days and difficult days. There were times when confidence was high, and times when reassurance mattered more than answers.

Our son worked incredibly hard — and in the end, he passed his grammar school test.
But what stayed with us wasn't just the result. It was the journey we took together as a family.

The Problem We Faced

Along the way, we tried almost everything:

  • Books
  • Tutors
  • Paid subscriptions to multiple practice websites

Some were helpful. Many were confusing. Most were expensive.

What we couldn't find was something simple and parent-friendly — a website where:

  • children could practise comfortably
  • parents could stay involved
  • practice felt encouraging, not overwhelming

That gap stayed in my mind.

Where the Idea Came From

I'm a software engineer by profession, working in the UK. Over the last few years, I've spent a lot of time learning and working with Generative AI. One evening, while revising with my son, a simple idea emerged:

What if AI could help parents create affordable, effective practice — without pressure, complexity, or cost barriers?

What if parents had a tool that supported practice, not panic?

That's how Sharp Test was born.

Built as a Family Project

Sharp Test is a heartfelt family project.

The name "Sharp Test" was suggested by my son himself. He didn't just inspire the idea — he actively helped shape it. His experience, feedback, and honesty guided how the site should feel: simple, motivating, and focused on learning rather than stress.

Most questions on Sharp Test are AI-generated, carefully designed to reflect realistic difficulty levels for UK 11+ style preparation, particularly Maths and English. The platform is built with parental supervision at its core, because children do best when parents are involved.

Free, Fair, and Accessible

Sharp Test is free for parents to use.
Families can practise Maths and English tests without paying anything.

For parents who want more practice, there is an optional low-cost subscription — kept intentionally affordable, because we believe quality preparation shouldn't be out of reach for families.

There are no hidden tricks, no pressure, and no marketing aimed at children — just tools to support steady practice and confidence building.

Trust & Safety

As parents ourselves, we understand how important trust is.

Sharp Test is designed so that:

  • We do not collect personal details about children
  • We do not sell or share data with third parties
  • Children are not marketed to or tracked
  • Parents remain in control of how the platform is used

Privacy and safety are built into Sharp Test from the very beginning.
Full details are explained clearly on our Data Privacy page.

Our Focus

Right now, Sharp Test is focused on:

  • UK 11+ preparation
  • Maths and English
  • Parent-led practice
  • A calm, structured learning experience

Over time, the platform will grow to include:

  • Additional UK 11+ formats
  • Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Second-stage preparation
  • More tools to support different learning styles

But the heart of Sharp Test will always stay the same.

Why Sharp Test Exists

Sharp Test isn't about shortcuts or promises.
It's about making practice clearer, simpler, and more supportive for families.

If you're a parent walking this path right now, we understand — because we've walked it too.

And if you're a child using Sharp Test:
keep practising, keep believing, and remember — effort always matters.
